Glass Thickness
Glass thickness can define the way your glass looks and feels, and it generally defines the application that it will be used for. The list below is what we recommend as the ideal thickness, size and strength for the glass that you need, ensuring that your glass matches its purpose.
Used in picture frames, cabinets, window glass with a maximum of 8 sqft can remain untempered. Larger than 8 sqft must be tempered.
Larger cabinet doors, window glass, less than than 8 sqft can remain untempered. Larger than 8 sqft must be tempered.
All general glass applications, such as small tabletops with full support, small shelves. Max 24" length. May be tempered.
Small shelves, table top with full support, framed glass railings, framed shower doors. 24"-36" in length. May be tempered.
Medium shelves, medium table tops with full support or no support, countertops, and shower doors. May be tempered.
Shower doors and enclosures, wall partitions, and mall fronts; these are always tempered. Large table tops, large shelves, and large countertops; these may remain untempered or can be tempered.

Tempered Glass
Tempered glass is significantly stronger than regular glass, as it is created through a process of intense heating followed by rapid cooling. This thermal tempering procedure enhances the glass's strength and alters its structure, causing it to break in a safer way. When tempered glass shatters, it forms small, rounded pieces rather than sharp, jagged edges. In contrast, untreated glass breaks into sharp fragments known as spall, which can cause serious injuries, especially during extreme weather events or sudden impacts. Because of its ability to reduce the risk of spall and improve safety, tempered glass is often called “safety glass.” In our products, all showers are tempered, and we recommend tempering for backsplashes and tabletops.

Polished
The flat polished edge is our most popular finish, consisting of sanding and polishing the glass edges to acquire a satiny smooth, glossy finish. This is the best way to highlight the thickness of the glass and this strategy provides for a very modern look to augment your living space.
Seamed
This choice is for safety as the edges are sanded down to remove ragged edges. Seamed edges are suited for framing due to their unfinished appearance. It is the most economical edge but it’s only recommended if the edges will be completely covered. For Glass Protector Tops, table tops, shelves, or anywhere the edge will be seen, only polished edges should be ordered.
Beveled
A beveled glass edge refers to a type of edge that is angled, typically at a 45-degree angle, to create a smooth, slanted finish. This edge treatment is often used to add a decorative touch to glass, making it look more elegant and refined. The beveled edge is commonly seen on mirrors, glass tabletops, and other decorative glass items. It creates a distinctive, reflective surface along the edge, giving the glass a polished, high-end appearance.
1/32’’ Eased Corner Finish: for safety purposes, the tip at each corner is slightly polished to remove sharp protrusions. This technique is known as the blunt edge. "Clipped" or “Tips off” or “points off” are other terms used to describe this process.
The Radius Corner Finish: This encompasses cutting the corners of the glass into a radius shape (round shape), which is then polished to give a smoother, safer finish. Corner radius describes how rounded the corners are on a rectangular glass cut. The term “corner radius” refers to the radius of the circle created by extending the corner arc to form a complete circle. Rounded corners are available up to a 4’’ radius.
